About

Binary Rescue started as a tech services company a few years ago serving Lubbock, Texas and the surrounding communities. At the time we provided services to both home users and small businesses. The tech services company Binary Rescue no longer exists. After completing my Masters degree in 2007 I decided my time was better spent working with my business clients. Shameless Plug Warning — Please visit Binary Business if you have technology needs related to your business.

Taking down the old Binary Rescue website also meant that I took down the blog that existed there. It didn’t take long for me to miss it. My goal with the Binary Rescue blog is to provide help to those who need it. This help will come in the form of how-to articles, commentary and reviews related to the tech industry. I have been tinkering with computers since the Apple II and IBM clone days - more than twenty years. I have also been working professionally in the IT field for more than a decade. I think it would be fair to say that I have accumulated just a bit of knowledge in the computer field and I am excited to be able to pass it along through this site.

My specialty in the IT field is Apple Macintosh systems and their related periphery, namely iPods, the iPhone and so on. You will find a whole section of this site dedicated solely to Apple. Of course I also have a ton of experience with Microsoft ( unfortunately :) ) as well as Linux and Unix systems. Articles relating to these topics can be found in the General Tech section.

It is my hope that you will find this site both entertaining and helpful. If you need help with a particular issue and would like to see a how-to article, please don’t hesitate to shoot me an email or let me know via the comments system on the site. If you would like to be notified of all new articles on the site please subscribe via email or RSS.

Good luck and happy computing.
